The Mountain Leader Award Scheme (Summer ML training, Summer ML assessment) £265* places available for 2011.

The summer ML provides a Nationally recognised leadership award for those who wish to lead groups into the mountains of the UK in summer conditions or train and supervise more remote Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold expeditions.

Check out this short clip explaining the Mountain Leader Award

To attend a summer ML training you should be a committed hill walker with 12 months or twenty Quality Mountain Days (QMD's) experience. Check the link for detailed prospectus.

For ML assessment you need a minimum of 40 QMD's in three areas of the UK , 8 nights camping, at least 4 of which should be high mountain wild camping and a current 16 hr 1st Aid Certificate. Check the link for detailed prospectus.

Our courses are Pitlochry based which provides a perfect choice of venues and helps us keep our mileage down during the week. Training course size is kept to 6 trainees so I would normally work with you. Assessment courses have a maximum of 8 candidates and 2 assessors.

Pitlochry has a wide range of accommodation - we recommend the Pitlochry SYHA which is a well equipped and comfortable hostel within walking distance of coach and rail routes plus shops and the very popular Moulin Inn.

You can choose accommodation to suit your budget.
