


The Single Pitch Award has been designed to provide the skills required for those who want to run single pitch rock climbing activities in the UK.

To join a training course you must be able to lead on rock placing your own protection and have lead a minimum of 15 single pitch rock climbs. This course looks at the skills required to run this activity and assumes that you have an established personal skills base.

If you are not yet leading traditional rock routes or climb indoors and want to convert to a traditional leader placed protection style of climbing we can offer you a learning to lead course.
At assessment you should have a minimum of 40 lead routes, half of these should be at Severe standard, be able to lead confidently at Severe and have a minimum of 20 group supervisory sessions as defined in the syllabus.
Our courses are Pitlochry based which provides a good choice of venues.
You can choose accommodation to suit your budget.
Pitlochry has a wide range of accommodation - we recommend the Pitlochry SYHA which is a well equipped and comfortable hostel within walking distance of coach and rail routes plus shops and the very popular Moulin Inn.
